ABSTRACT

This chapter and the next will deal with the China Monthly Review’s involvement in the campaign by the People’s Republic of China to publicize charges that the United States had engaged in biological warfare in North Korea and Northeast China. This chapter in particular will focus on the publicity campaign itself, and its antecedents, rather than the veracity or falsity of the accusations. The bacteriological warfare (BW) charges, made in the spring of 1951 and 1952 by North Korea and China were, and still remain, a matter of controversy.
