ABSTRACT

When I got home after the conference I rang Sue. She was the only person from my nursing days with whom I had stayed in close contact. I suggested that we attend the reunion-but it was a year later that we finally arranged to do so. The training had been split between two hospital sites and the reunion was due to be held in the newly upgraded one since the other hospital was now closed. We paid our £5 for afternoon tea in advance and arranged to attend for the afternoon only, missing out the formal lunch and church service. The night before, Sue stayed with me and, as we drank red wine, we reminisced about our student training days.
