ABSTRACT
The extracts in this first part of the book illustrate some of the ways in which relationships between providers of care and those they care for, as well as between people working in health and social care services, have changed over time, as well as highlighting some important continuities. Included here are autobiographical accounts, extracts from imaginative literature, and more academic attempts to theorise the changing nature of relationships in the context of care.
