ABSTRACT

The 1978 tour ended with concerts in Cleveland on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. It had been a triumphal tour, the band’s longest and the first one ever to show much profit. Over its 150 nights, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played to more than a million fans, and almost every one of them had come away marveling at the sweetness and innocence, the ecstasy and the intensity.
