ABSTRACT

It should be apparent to you, before you even start to study the subject, that urban geography is more than just another subject on a university or college curriculum. Many of the most pressing issues facing contemporary societies now and into the future revolve around life in cities. Life in cities is replete with both problems and possibilities. Cities represent both the best and worst of life in the earliest twenty-first century. If you wish to engage with the world outside your window, either in theory, in practice or through your everyday life, it is almost impossible to do so without at least some engagement with urban geography.
