ABSTRACT
Search theory as exposited in Stigler (1961), but also including BSM, generated several provocative critiques, the most illuminating and illustrious being that of Rothschild (1973), which we call Rothschild’s complaint.1 At the heart of the complaint is a version of Diamond’s paradox. Levine and Lippman (1995) have a succinct description of this paradox.
