ABSTRACT

Iaculum (plural iacula), the net a retiarius used to entangle a rival gladiator.

Ibycus, of Rhegium, Greek poet, sixth century. Ibycus wrote (among much else) the earliest known epinicians. Fragments remain of poems for callias (1) of Athens, a Spartan victor in games at Sicyon, a runner from Leontini, perhaps a wrestler, exemplifying characteristics of better preserved later works of this kind.
