ABSTRACT
The defensive naval doctrine of the Young School period corresponded with a new course in Soviet foreign policy, when the Soviet Union supported status quo in the international system and the principle of collective security. The new course was confirmed when the country was admitted as a member to the League of Nations in 1934.
