ABSTRACT

Boston bust and the year off, Ray reached cruising speed. No scandal marred and no

hit blessed his s, but Ray continued to work, not as obscurely as the mole of yore,

but with the same steadfast purpose. He recorded at RPM, piling up track after track

after track. He played concert after concert, anywhere and anytime anybody came up

with the money. He circled the globe dozens of times, and traveled millions of miles.

He appeared on television and won awards, made love with women and ran his busi-

ness, and he maintained these patterns with little outward variation through the entire

s and s and into the s.
