ABSTRACT

Ask ordinary Catholics what they believe, and they may be hesitant to answer. Ask them what they do as Catholics and you are much more likely to get a clear-cut response. We have seen some of the things which Catholics do, such as going to mass on Sundays, receiving the sacraments and the like. Of course, all these things imply much about belief as well as about practice, but it is quite likely that many, if not most, Catholics would not be able to give a very coherent theological explanation for what they do. Catholicism is very much a lived religion.
