ABSTRACT

The 1997 Census data give us a great opportunity to gain a better and deeper knowledge of the agricultural geography of China. The significant conclusion from the analysis in previous sections is that the economic geography of the China is very different from the agricultural geography, but these two important aspects are closely related. In fact, in section two we showed how GDP is inversely correlated to the ratio of persons engaged in agriculture. This means that we need to deepen the knowledge of the different agricultural systems in China, in order to identify those areas where the situation could be modified and those where the chances of modification are low, because the terrain can be extremely difficult.
