ABSTRACT

It is important to be a good role model for your children. Those who struggle with anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorders are often hypervigilant to the actions of parents and significant others in their life. They may watch others to affirm and solidify the new self-messages and healthy behaviors they are working on in therapy. Be aware of your actions and your language. You can be a conduit for change in your daughter’s life if you are consistent with the messages of recovery. Being a super model means no dieting, no cursing your body, or judging others by their appearances. It is adopting a healthy exercise regime, eating for nutrition’s sake as well as, at times, for pleasure. It is a lifestyle of maintaining a balance between work and play, graciously accepting your limits and your own imperfections.
