ABSTRACT

The second largest category in 2011 was no religion. This increased 10 percentage points from 15 per cent (7.7 million) of residents in 2001, to 25 per cent (14.1 million) in 2011. The next most stated religion in England and Wales was Muslim with fi ve per cent (2.7 million) of residents stating their religion as Muslim, an increase of two percentage points since 2001 when three per cent (1.5 million) of usual residents stated that they were Muslim.
