ABSTRACT

This document is in Lansdowne MSS. 75, ff. 50–51. Unlike the two previous letters, this one is signed by Francis Johnson, and it carries an endorsement: “To the Right Honorable, my very good Lorde, the Lord Burghley, Lord High Treasurer of Englande.” It is dated from the Clink, where Johnson is “still in close pryson for the gospell of Jesus Christe.”
