ABSTRACT

On Tuesday, March 20, 1592/1593, Greenwood was examined a second time within a period of ten days. Preparations were being made for his trial, as well as for that of Barrow, Bellot, Boull, and Studley. The examination supplemented the one of March 11. Greenwood had already admitted his part in writing A Collection of Certaine Sclaunderous Articles Gyven Out by the Bishops, and A Collection of Certain Letters and Conferences. Although these books did not carry the names of the authors on the title page, they were easily identified by the conferences recorded therein, and his book, An Answere to George Gifford’s Pretended Defence of Read Praiers and Devised Litourgies, did have his name on the title page, on the final page, and also in the preface.
