ABSTRACT

Whereas individuals may strive for as much financial self-awareness as they can muster, for couples, it is communication that allows them to work productively with the unconscious material. We are not proposing some platonic ideal of perfection for couples in their communication about finances. Rather, we are suggesting that couples can move toward increasing their conscious awareness, insight, and communication in forming an effective financial partnership. Deepening financial communication can help couples function together in such a way that money supports their life goals and enhances their relationship.
