ABSTRACT
Extraordinary experiences usually have a quality that has never been experienced before, causing subjects to search for an explanation. Because these experiences generally cannot be explained by ‘common sense’ and are not comparable to previous experiences, many people come up with extraordinary explanations. For example, when a person hears whispering when no one is present, they may start to wonder about ghosts, spirits or aliens.
