ABSTRACT

This book represents an attempt to provide a comprehensive, systematic study of Asian American political attitudes and behavior by using a unique data set, the PNAAPS. In this chapter, we first review key findings from each main chapter. The efficacy of the conceptual frameworks introduced in Chapter 1 is then appraised in light of these findings toward the twin purposes of understanding the political experiences of Asian Americans as well as the larger issues of race, ethnicity, international migration, and political incorporation in American politics and behavior. In the final section, we discuss the implications of our findings for community empowerment and for building political coalitions across race, ethnicity, nativity, class, and gender.
