ABSTRACT
While maintaining the presidential aura, do not hesitate to respond to opposition barbs. Passivity is a bad thing. You do not want the opposition to have the last word, particularly when the story is negative-don’t let it stick. Time is of the essence and any opportunity for a dip in the polls during the election year is potentially dangerous. You can bet that journalists will find hidden meaning in any drop in the polls and such news certainly makes for a great column regardless of whether the drop was meaningful.
