ABSTRACT

In the 1920s and until the end of 1932 Germans from all walks of life, but especially younger people, took politics into their own hands. They did this because intellectual and popular opinion held that the Weimar democracy was imposed by the enemy and was ineffective. The more vicious elements added that, because many Weimar leaders were Jewish, they were therefore not German and would not work for German interests. This takeover of popular politics in opposition to the new democracy ended in a terrible disaster.
