ABSTRACT
Alice was surprised to meet a unicorn in the land behind the lookingglass, for she thought unicorns were fabulous monsters. But having met it, she readily agreed to believe in it. We believe in creativity for much the same reason: because we encounter it in practice. In the abstract, however, creativity can seem utterly impossible, even less to be expected than unicorns.
