ABSTRACT
This, however, is not to say that cultural theory in the United States does not exist. It does and thrives here. I raise this point because, as this chapter will attempt to show, the formation and development of cultural theory in America is a story of migration, much like the selfprofessed story of the nation itself, mostly from Europe.
