Rome and Greece

The Roman takeover of Greece is not a separate part of history from the hellenistic period, nor even the end of hellenistic culture – though the continuing story of Greek culture within a mature Roman empire (and later the eastern Roman or Byzantine empire, to ad 1453 and beyond) cannot form part of the present account.
