ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter we touched upon the ‘unintended consequences’ that may result from a company's neglect of the psychological needs of its employees. For Argyris these unintended consequences are adaptive activities by individuals in response to an environment which gives them little opportunity to have any control over their jobs.
