ABSTRACT
F. W. Taylor (1856–1917) joined the Midvale Steel Works in Philadelphia as a labourer. He was soon promoted to foreman and then to Chief Engineer. Later he moved to the Bethlehem Steel Works and later still he retired from direct management and operated as a consultant.
