ABSTRACT
For the three or four last years of her life She checked her purchases (it is like trying to control a vice!); but some few months before her Death She was tempted by the celebrated Barberini Vase, imported by the noted Virtuoso (savant collector) Sr. William Hamilton. The Duchess gave 2000 pounds to Sr. William for it, a fine cameo of Augustus, and a fragment of an Intaglio of a Hercules.
