ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the role of education in increasingly multicultural and pluralistic contexts with regard to regulating and replicating standardised versions of Englishes. It examines various language policies across different parts of the globe, particularly the part played by educational policy and the school curriculum in maintaining the relationship between language use and national identity.
