ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the first phase towards creating an approved preliminary lighting design. In the case of Hokey, the first step in this phase is to interpret the advance notes and create preliminary drawings of the Hybrid Theatre. The three main views drawn are the preliminary section, the preliminary groundplan, and the front elevation, which define the performance space from the side, overhead, and front viewing planes.
