And did I not trace this phenomenon to the banquet of Lanting (353) in one place, but to Xie Lingyun somewhere else, not to mention to the Introduction to Landscape Painting by Zong Bing (440), which we will be discussing in a moment? In other words, a margin of almost a century … and this from someone who demanded precision above, when talking about the Romans!
