ABSTRACT

With growing sensitivity toward social issues, companies are increasingly striving to become better corporate citizens. Some leading firms have recognized that sustainability principles are important for long-term corporate profitability and are paying more attention to these issues. These companies acknowledge that many constituents have a legitimate stake in their activities and that they must integrate consideration of many stakeholder interests into day-to-day management decisions and strive to balance and maximize these interests. Accordingly, many companies have established policies and designed programs as a means to better manage the impact of their activities on society.
