ABSTRACT

A space of experimentation opens up every three or so decades where there are possibilities and multiple potential points of intervention and experimentation for the reconfiguration of inter-relationships between state—space, economy, environment, infrastructure systems and resource organisation. We have also outlined the dominant state responses in terms of low carbon rationalities and their folding into new trajectories of socio-technical change in the configuration of infrastructure systems and networks. In this chapter, we seek to think about the opportunities and constraints that the post-2007 space of experimentation opens up for cities and regions.
