ABSTRACT
As a single mother, Mary finds herself lost without her smartphone. In under two years since her smartphone purchase, Mary went from a phenomenal ‘SMSer’ to a prolific social media user. Before having her smartphone, Mary never had the time to access Facebook or Twitter on her desktop. As a mother of a toddler, Mary was always running around, micromanaging work and her child's demands. She often found herself part of the mobile feed of social media when her daughter was asleep. She found it relaxing to keep afloat with her friends' activities, especially as she didn't have the time to catch up with her friends as often as she would like.
