ABSTRACT

Zeid Hamdan (*1976) is the key actor of urban music in Lebanon—see Chapter 11. Since the early 1990s, Hamdan has continued to create bands (e.g., Soap Kills, the New Government, Shiftz, Zeid and the Wings) and labels (Mooz Records) and organize concerts and festivals. He produced music for various groups and collaborated with Beirut-based record shop La CD-Thèque and its distribution label, Incognito, throughout the early 2000s. 13 Lebanese Underground, Hamdan's promotion platform, hosts various artists primarily from urban music.
