ABSTRACT
This nineteen-year old girl ... recently raped four ways ... was not home when the subpoena was delivered for the deposition [a discovery interview conducted by the accused rapist’s defense attorney]. So, they left it with a sorority house and the girls all said, ‘Why do you have to go to court?’ This girl was upset because until that point, no one at the sorority knew she had been raped and [she]wanted to keep it a secret. A subpoena can be left with anyone at an address who is 16 or older and this is considered having personally delivered it [to the person being subpoenaed]. The victim is not consulted about when she has to appear regarding a case, so the time may be during class. They [rape victims] are just summoned to show up at whatever time suits the defense attorney
