ABSTRACT
This book, the result of a multi-decade analysis of rape work, offers two conclusions: Many positive changes have been achieved and much remains to be done. Anti-rape activists and rape crisis centers have made a genuine difference in the lives of rape victims and the practices of countless U.S. communities. Guided by a commitment to help victims and end rape, anti-rape activists have created organizations and community networks that have achieved a level of success that, in my view, they do not fully appreciate. They have not eliminated rape, but they have most definitely placed it on the public agenda and improved the way victims are treated. We owe them an immense debt.
