ABSTRACT

Often with curiosity or concern, parents and educators wonder or worry if their children are learning to express and develop their individualities as they learn to get along with siblings or peers. Are they enjoying positive, constructive relations with their siblings and peers? Parents and educators are often somewhat unsure of their own important roles. While sibling and peer play is interesting, fun, and compelling, it is also sometimes frustrating to contend with or even just to behold. Yet developmental and educational psychologists consider that sibling and peer play make important contributions in the ecology of children’s development.
