This book has been fuelled by a belief that there are many ways of being a professional psychologist. We celebrate this diversity, believing that it contributes to a rich tapestry of informed, effective and creative practices that can benefit an increasingly wide range of clients. However, such diversity also implies an inherent responsibility to define the psychology we practise and the type of identity we wish to inhabit. This includes defining the skills that underpin our work and identifying substantive frameworks that can help us reflect upon, critique and refine those skills in systematic ways.
