ABSTRACT
Two days after Hurricane Katrina landed its devastating blow on New Orleans, two managing directors of the firm handling the finances and operations of the city's public schools waded through the muddy waters flooding the school district's administration offices. They did so to rescue data tapes that they would need to pay district teachers and administrators who had fled the city to escape Katrina and its terrible aftermath.
