ABSTRACT

There are two types of analysis I conduct on the services and cities data. The matrix can be analysed either by columns to focus upon relations between firms or between rows to focus upon relations between cities. The former type of analysis reveals configurations among the firms, showing similarities in distributions of offices, and is the subject matter of this chapter. The latter reveals configurations among the cities in terms of similarities in their service mixes and is the subject matter of Chapter 7. By searching out patterns in this way, spatial configurations are identified that show different geographies of globalization.
