ABSTRACT

Basically, Hopkins’ images evoke the ordinary with the added insight that homely ‘pied’ things combine into a magic filigree. Like the figured rhyme and rhythm that lead the reader to see the wonder in the overly familiar, the idea of multiculturalism prods us to look at educational commonplaces from a wholly new point of view. In this essay we can begin to unpack some of the descriptive and prescriptive complexity of schooling in today's world.
