ABSTRACT

Sustainable development is an important subject. One can see this on TV and in the newspapers, where the issue makes headlines every day, whether or not with the phrase ‘sustainable development’ being included literally. It is evident in expenditure by the authorities and by companies, who annually spend billions of euros on sustainable development and on corporate social responsibility. It is no longer possible to think the subject away, while it is quickly becoming – just like the idea of ‘quality’ a few decades ago – a permanent core concept for all companies and organisations.
