ABSTRACT
Lightweight concrete may be produced by either using a lightweight aggregate, instead of the usual stone or gravel, or by forming air or gas bubbles in a plastic mix of cement, with or without sand or other fine aggregate. These concretes are used in construction where low density and weight reduction is important, where thermal insulation is required and for fire protection.
