ABSTRACT
Also known as Sussex bond. Consists of three stretchers and a header alternately along each course, the headers coming over the centre stretchers. The object of the bond is to enable a fair face to be kept on both sides of a one-brick wall. As the proportion of stretchers to headers is higher than in English or Flemish bonds, the wall joints between stretchers can be adjusted to allow for variations in the lengths of headers.
