ABSTRACT
Bitumen D.P.C.:- consist of bitumen with a base of hessian, fibre or asbestos, with or without lead. Should comply with B.S. 743. Supplied in rolls to suit various wall widths, standard length 7.3m (24ft). Should be bedded on an even bed of mortar, free of stones or lumps which might prevent downward seepage of moisture, e.g. in parapets, the joints should be sealed with bitumen compound. Care must be taken when unrolling this type of D.P.C. It is advisable in winter to warm the material first to prevent cracking.
