ABSTRACT

A two-way spanning in-situ reinforced concrete floor. The intersecting ribs form a grid as shown Fig 1, and this coffered grid, reminiscent of a waffle iron gives the floor its name.

A series of polypropolene or glass fibre moulds Fig 2 are supported on decking, or on timber or metal supporting beams. The spaces between them are filled with concrete to form the ribs, the tops of the moulds providing the soffit support for the main floor.
