ABSTRACT
Open well stairs:- Where there is a space between the flights of a staircase it may be described as an open well stairway. Fig 1 shows a half turn stair with a half space landing and an open well. A number of designs however may be used which incorporate an open well, and Fig 2 shows the plan of an alternative open well stair, with either quarter space landings as at ‘A’ or using winders as at ‘B’.
