ABSTRACT

Krajewski’s three first voyages to France had lasted 13, 16 and 15 days respectively and had served to evacuate 171 Poles and three others. The distances involved-1,500-1,600 sea miles on passage, perhaps 2,000 miles in all, allowing for the extra distances steamed between operational pinpoints and waiting positions-greatly exceeded any previously tackled: it was by any standards a remarkable achievement.
