ABSTRACT

It is interesting to note that the OCR have fully revised their Classical Civilisation syllabus in response to the loss of archaeology. This new syllabus, which includes such topics as ‘The Archaeology of Roman Britain’, ‘Archaeological Methods’, together with a coursework option which can be entirely archaeological in its approach, is a very important development, as lecturers with a historical background who are at present delivering the OCR syllabus may find it a viable alternative. Furthermore, it provides the AQA with some welcome competition.
