ABSTRACT

The most beautiful of the many daughters of Priam and Hecabe. She was married to Antenor’s son Helicaon. When the Greek Acamas, son of Theseus, was sent on a mission to Troy before the war broke out, in order to demand the return of the kidnapped Helen, Laodice fell in love with him and bore him a son, Munychus, of whom Aethra, Acamas’ grandmother (now a slave of Helen), took charge. On the night when Troy was sacked, the ground opened and, in full view of many onlookers, Laodice was swallowed up in the chasm and never seen again.
