ABSTRACT
Odysseus landed in the mythical country of these people after rounding Cape Malea on his way home from Troy. Some of his sailors tasted the lotus plant, and as a result forgot everything and only wanted to stay there for ever, eating the fruit in blissful oblivion. They had to be dragged back to the ships by force.
